Martin Black

Martin Black is an expert in commercial property, specialising in lease advisory work including lease renewals, rent reviews, and any kind of lease negotiations.

Before co-founding Black Stanniland in 2010, he was the Director of Professional Services at commercial property consultancy Hammond Phillips.

During over 20 years as a chartered surveyor, Martin has represented a broad range of national occupiers including Wilko, TK Maxx, Sainsburys, The Body Shop, Burger King, Ladbrokes Coral, Pret A Manger and Kuoni Travel. He has represented a range of private landlord clients and property companies. Such is Martin’s success at maintaining long term relationships with our clients, that he’s currently representing the third generation within the same family trust.

Also active as a dispute resolver, Martin frequently acts as expert witness, and regularly receives RICS appointments to act as Arbitrator and Independent Expert. Interests outside of work include his two children, playing tennis, water sports and his recently acquired vintage VW Camper Van.
